3 French Hens - exciting season of markets

Hello All - I am sorry that it has been so long!

I am still recouping from our October 8th weekend at the 3 French Hens Market in Morris, where we set up our booth this month with a "spooky" Halloween theme.

What a great season of markets the 3 French Hens had this year. Out of all the weekends we had a single light sprinkle on one of the market days (not including the torrential downpour & hail we had during clean up after the August show) But all in all the weather was beautiful and the customers a dream!

Thank you Traci & Monica for organizing these Markets so that vendors from all over can sell in the historic town of Morris.

Don't forget about the special Holiday Market that will be held @ the Grundy County Fair Grounds in Morris on November 18th & 19th. Visit for information regarding this upcoming shows address & times!

Stay tuned for news on the stores Holiday Open House & 2 Year Anniversary Party!!!!

a long "winters" nap

After a long "winters" nap, we will be resuming & updating our blog. The shop has been busy in 2010, welcoming new customers & dozens of exciting new artists.
I can't wait to see what new things are in store for us in 2011.

I love this vintage bike. It is so crazy to see the store just one month after these pictures were taken.
So much has sold w/ so many new things replacing the items that have gone to their new owners homes.

So many new titles, what to do......

These snowman were such a big deal this year.
Nina made each one unique from old bottles, watch parts, light bulbs, faucets, tins, game pieces, tinsel, buttons, brads, etc.

These fantastic chairs have found a new home
in an antique store in Winfield.
What a great season we have had thanks to all of our customers.
We wish all of you a wonderful holiday!!

Love the fall

The last couple of days have reminded me how much I love the fall. The smells, the trees... the mix of warm and cold in the same day. In honor of the start of this new season, yesterday, we decided to head out a couple of towns over to their Scarecrow Festival. Although we had never been, the front page of our local newspaper featured an article about it. (news is a bit slow in our neck of the woods) There were corn mazes and taffy apples; Kettle corn and stilt walking; Bean bag tosses and sling shot shooting. Horse pull rides and tractors; Pumpkins and apples; Bonfire and fiddle players! During this particular weekend, there were also 20+ crafters and vendors. Many of them are making their items out of recycled materials and all were from our local area. I decided that of course I must mix business with pleasure and see if there were any items that we may want to feature in our store. My favorite was an older couple who weave rag rugs made from used jeans and coveralls, but several others caught my eye as well. We will be looking for people whose products really match our vision for the store, so if you know anyone, send them our way.

We have finally made it back into the store to take measurements and determine the amount of lumber, paint etc that is needed. So Amy and I, next week will tear the place up, so that her hubby Dustin can start work putting it back together this weekend. Down to 47 days and we're finally going to start building some bookcases. (Thank goodness! I'm ready to get all these books out of my house!)
